I’m often in my own head a lot so it may make sense to me but it may not make sense to who I’m speaking to. I ask to make sure I’m being clear

like

Agreed! If you patronize in any way, it’s an immediate no go for me in any situation. I won’t even listen.

Why, thank you! My junior told me the other day that he thought I was the best manager he had had, I was so chuffed, I teared up! So thanks! It’s about empowerment...

Damn really? I use that a lot after explaining a bunch of technical verbiage

Thank you for sharing 😇

Yup I honestly think this is so passive-aggressive and I cringe when I hear it.

"Makes sense to me, but you're making me question YOUR ability to explain it!"

I kind of disagree with D1. 'does that make sense' prompts the listener to respond, and often times can lead to them realizing something they didn't even know at the time. 'let me know if u have any questions' often is replied with a blank stare. But yes you have to do it tactfully as it can certainly come off patronizing

smart

Thank you for sharing @Senior Consultant 1

Alas, it might just be my personal bias!

But it sounds like, "Did that make sense to you?" has a hidden subtext, "Because I'm not sure you have the capacity to make sense of it!" 🤣🤣

Kinda like, "To be honest with you..." Has the hidden subtext: "Oh, I am signposting this next sentence, because normally I'm not honest with you"!!!!

Hi Everyone, I am trying to apply for a Technical Support role at Dropbox I’m entering all the required fields but there seems to be an issue, when I hit submit after filling the form, it doesn’t submit and throws error ‘Looks like you left this blank! Please fill out this required field’ when all the fields are entered already (I have checked so many times, and filled the form from scratch several times too). Anyone from Dropbox who can put me in touch with HR or suggest what I should do next?

Hi all,

Need help with a resume review referral or another resource (cover letter critique, etc) you've used that helped you get a job.

Sibling finished up MAin UK (History) w/ 2YOE, now back in US, and has comms/event management/program management experience. But she's having difficulty getting any interviews in the Northeast areas. It's been about 6 months now, and any resources y'all have would be greatly appreciated.

is anyone familiar with pay differentials, negotiating for a temporary raise or some other form of compensation for extra work? 3 coworkers on my team have recently resigned, and certain shifts are being expected to work at half staff until new hires can be brought on. if my workload is being doubled, i expect to be compensated, as they are paying one employee to do the work of two. any suggestions or wording on how to address this?
