Why does this sound like a breaking bad episode?
Happy to chat live if easier. Own interest in a few franchises and can say it’s in the range of 4x-5x net income. Couple of things to consider generally.
How much management time is embedded in earnings and what do you want to do?
The franchises I own have established management teams. I don’t run them. That lowers earnings but in my mind I’ll pay a higher multiple if I don’t have to do the management. You might want to.
Growth as others have mentioned. The franchises I own might grow LT 5 percentage points per year. But with the management team I can add more Franchise locations in a territory so can grow that way. More capital intensive. Might be a trade off between having to build out other locations and multiple.
Please do share what type of franchises.
Hooters
Have you thought about the meth amphetamine market yet? I hear it’s quite buoyant …..
🥰
Depends very much on whether it’s a growing franchise or a stable one. If stable, then circa 4x annual cash flow plus asset value. If growing you might want to stretch a little further.
Get a car wash or trailer park - they generate $$$$
All depends on the franchise. Provide bit more clarity please
I’ve heard laundromats also do well?
Yeah low maintenance is key
Depending on industry should be 3-5x EBIT. Ensure the industry is growing at a healthy pace
Why on earth would you want to do this? Hobbies. You need hobbies.
You know not all people are like you ? 🤔
Those cookie companies churn out cash and are on the decline post COVID. It might be a good time to find someone over leveraged / in distress. There isn’t that much capital involved either. Think Crumbl.
Car washes have been rolled up by PE for years. Still very fragmented but some of the larger chains have been very aggressive in their location strategy. I would be cautious in that space and want to understand relevant competition and competitor expansion trends. The other thing to look at is member vs retail sales. You want to trend member but need a strategy for refilling the top of the funnel.
