First year associate. Have been practicing corporate and commercial real estate law for 11 months. Not sure what I like about / if I like what I do. I have been thinking of reaching out to a career coach, mainly to learn more about myself and whether I would be happier in a new role. Has anyone had success with a career coach? Alternatively, would speaking to a therapist be a better option? (I’m not depressed or having any mental health concerns but think it could be insightful).

I recently got a job offer through a company that offered me the high end of what I was asking (75k) but since it is the high end of what I asked for, do I have room to negotiate? Do I have a leg to stand on if I even try negotiating at the point? I have til Friday to fully accept. I have an asset purchase of a retail store transaction. Seller is keeping the second location. Seller is licensing the name from the buyer. The licensing agreement is supposed to contain provisions so that the seller cannot offer promotions or discounts that the buyer does not also offer (i.e., seller cannot undercut buyer's pricing). Big Law M&A Mid Level (year 4-6) Signing Bonuses. What’s Market these days? I’ve been hearing $50k - $100k, but wanted to see what folks were getting in the last few months.

Is it possible to be a “silent” investor (party A) with a friend who’s an accredited investor (party B)investing in a company? So if B is investing $50k in a company, and A wants to give B $25k of that investment, is this possible with an agreement between A and B, where they’re responsible for their own portion of taxes?

Curious as to how many deals at once is typical for a first year associate to take on (M&A, mostly private equity clients). Deal size is lower middle market and I’ve worked on deals ranging from $1-$110M. 2 deals at once is plenty for me, but it seems like my peers are able to take on more than that at once and still do fine. Maybe I’m just a slow learner/out of my league at the big law firm I’m at.

I understand a CofC is triggered in an equity deal, but is that also triggered in an asset deal (along with assignment, obviously)?

Junior associate here, should I ask for more money if my firm is about 10-15 percent less hours but about 30 percent less pay? The gap will never be closed to the top pay scale at my firm but when I decided to come to this firm the pay difference was about 15 percent and not 30. Would appreciate any thoughts on how to go about bringing this up without pissing people off because I love the firm and do not want to leave
