Recently had Flighty recommended to me on the App store. I've used it the last couple of flights for clients and the updates have been a huge time saver. It can also map out all the flights you've ever taken. Pretty cool seeing how many miles I've done across all airlines. Also kind of sad to see how many DAYS I've spent stuck on a plane flying to a client site.
Definitely recommend checking it out: www.flightyapp.com/

I live 10 minutes from MCI. If checking a bag, give yourself an hour. If not 45 minutes should be fine, or less if you want to tempt fate. The security lines are specific to gate numbers so there's rarely any bulky lines. Not all gates have pre check, but the main airlines do. It literally only takes 5 minutes to walk the entire terminal, either B or C. The best part is arrival. Once you're off the plane it takes 90 seconds to get to the curb.
The new airport opens either in 23 or 24 and it will be more like every other airport. I'll miss the simplicity of OG MCI, but given the sparce amenities in the current airport, the new one will be welcome. I'm hoping the new one will also get Clear, but that's still TBD.
I agree with these timing suggestions.
MCI is a terrible place for a delay post-security. Check the departures board before you go through security, and loiter outside if you get delayed. Once you’re through, it’s very tight quarters and there are not enough bathrooms.
As an aside, the new airport is on track to open in 2023 and is going to be awesome.
Literally you can arrive 40 minutes before your flight. 50 minutes if checking a bag. Once you enter the airport security is like a 30 second walk from the curb and gates aren’t far either
