For borrowers ineligible for PSLF due to private loans or employment at non-qualifying organizations, what are the most viable paths to debt reduction, especially with IDR forgiveness timelines extending to 20–25 years and potential tax liabilities post-forgiveness?

I'd diversify your repayment strategy. Explore income-driven plans (SAVE/PAYE) for lower payments, prioritize state-specific forgiveness programs. Not much else you or any of us can do at this point.

Federal Consolidation and then pick one of the optional repayment plans: Income Driven Repayment is the easiest; Graduated (according to changing income levels) is the most aggressive and gives borrowers an ability to save while repaying and then the standard repayment--where you'll need to make on the order of $200,000 in your first after graduating just to breathe fresh air.

Does having student loans impact your ability to get a mortgage?

Damn LIBOR rate up again...

Curious to know how much your student loans were when you graduated from your program, how much you’ve paid off so far, and your age. If you have any varying factors too, like kids, income range, etc. Just trying to see if I’m on track or slacking in life. I am 34 yo, i graduated with 95k in student loans, i currently have 85k left and i make 85k in come. I’m also a single mom with two kids. Just praying for 100% student loans forgiveness. Wishful thinking???
