Organize things as you pack, don’t take a bunch of random boxes and crap that you don’t need. Throw away, then move, not the other way around

Pro
Moved 5 times in 7 years. There’s a million obvious checklist things, but one huge time saver for me. Leave one room as “off limits” for movers. This will be all the things you will take on your person, so your valuables or whatever. This saves so much time going back and forth with movers on what they’re packing or taking. “You don’t need to go in this room everything in here I’m taking with me. Literally everything else should be packed.” Saves so much complication.
- Start saving boxes and newspapers to pack things! Try to keep them under the bed and reuse. Same with any blankets that can double as wraps/padding.
- Make a manageable packing schedule so you can accomplish a little each day. If you haven’t moved, packing may feel daunting.
- Start folding/separating your laundry neatly
- Make an Amazon list of things you need for the next apartment
- Mock up a grocery list / pantry restock for your first shop
- Start saving any cash that you carry for movers (if you get them)
- Have a few water bottles ready for moving help too
