My kid starts screaming in the room next to mine. Gets you up quick.

Not sure how old they are but my kids were like that as babies/toddlers. As they get older, they get lazy - prob my influence rubbing off on em lol
Since quarantine and wfh I’ve been waking up earlier /going to bed earlier and earlier. Like embarrassingly early (9:30-10pm).
I’m finding pre dawn hours and sunrise the best part of my day. I make coffee, go for a walk right at dawn, watch the sun come up. It’s turning into my favorite thing. And I was a real night owl before.
The key is really just going to bed earlier so you still get the solid sleep you need.

Nothing embarrassing about going to bed at 10. I’ve been doing that for years! In bed with a book at 9.30 and lights out at 10.
Lately I’ve been telling Alexa to play Lovely Day by Bill Withers. Such a groovy song helps me get up.
Put your alarm across the room so you have to get out of bed to turn it off. Turn on the lights immediately, and have the heat on a timer so it’s cozy when you get up. Now you are out of bed with the lights on and you probably have to pee so why don’t you just change into workout clothes while you are at it since you are awake!
I live in NJ and it gets cold here too. This is your opportunity to buy some cute/handsome (don’t want to assume lol), warm workout gear! I’m a runner and I run at 5am year-round unless it’s icy out. Fleece tights are your friend in the winter. Warm ear bands or hats and gloves and layers on the top and you are good to go. If you are dressed right, the first few minutes you will be chilly, but then you warm up and it’s lovely to be outside before the world wakes up. And then you feel like a badass for getting your workout done before most people are even up for the day!

Hey you can run in ice. Just got a good pair of strap on ice cleats/spikes for your shoes.

Have kids.
No one else will make your dreams come true. Get up and jump on the treadmill
Don’t give yourself a choice! You made these goals so come through for yourself. Don’t let yourself down!
Just have to get myself up. Have a glass of water immediately when waking up, have my running clothes already laid out, get dressed and head out the door for a run. It just comes down to discipline for me. Getting to bed early is key as well.
Move your alarm out of arms reach and put a full glass of water next to it before bed. That way you’re forced out of bed to turn it off and the water will wake up your system a bit.
My new puppy screams at 6:30 am on the dot every day. He sleeps through the night but he has to go first thing when he wakes up and screams to let you know he’s going to burst.
After he’s peed I’m too awake to fall back to sleep before my first call
I open up all the lights in my apartment...
I don’t do work or workout right when I wake up. I do things I enjoy first. Even if it’s just doing my skincare routine with some coffee and Netflix. Then I’m looking forward to getting up and starting my day. Once I’m up, I can motivate myself to workout or get on the computer. Also, a good robe & slippers are key for cold climates. Sucks to get out of bed and be cold.

As far as immediately getting up. Make sure your heating is adequate in the morning. It's very difficult to get out of bed when you are freezing in the morning.
I also have my lights set on a timer to turn on at full brightness 10 mins before my wakeup time. That helps me acclimate in the morning despite no sunlight.
Staying awake after is a combination of any excercise, coffee, and a good shower

Fitbit alarm; guided meditation; hot coffee.
Put some good music on and DANCE. Helps get the blood moving and also makes happy chemicals in your brain.
Also consider:
- because of daylight savings time, the sun is actually rising a lot earlier. You get more daylight in the dark winter when you wake up earlier
- everyone has a different biological clock or chronotype. figure out what yours is and schedule accordingly. no use trying to be someone else. :)
