For those who work in public schools - how do you manage maintaining your faith without also promoting too heavily, things which are contrary to it? I am increasingly struggling with this. Thank you

God gives the opportunities. I teach 5th grade. This is my 3rd year in ps after 19 in a Christian school. I have a few scriptures on and near my desk and my students know I go to church. I have had several opportunities to talk about God, creation, and my faith in a non- threatening way. Simply because it has come up in the conversation. I know which of my students believe in God and when they are struggling I can encourage them with scripture. Otherwise I pray for those that don’t believe yet.

Exactly my point :)
Just slowly wade into the water and then tread lightly!

Find people that are also religious. I slowly let words about praying or religion come out during conversations here and there and slowly find other Christians :)

When I disagree with something on a biblical basis (like evolutionary theory presented as fact), I use words like... "In my personal philosophy of life, I don't agree with this," or "This doesn't resonate with my own worldview..." I also freely admit to using these words as bait to get students to ask me what I mean by my philosophy or worldview, so I can answer with the Gospel. (But that's a lot easier to get away with in MS than it is in WA, I'm sure.)

I'm finding it to be increasingly more difficult. Some things are 100% contrary to truth and Biblical principles, and I don't participate (quietly).

By teaching elementary school.
I haven't come anything in our curriculum (that I recall) that I had a problem with theologically. But we don't really teach origin theories at this level, either.
Now, our behavior system I have a serious problem with, but I have straight told my admin that I won't use it. Thus far it hasn't been an issue for my srudents, overall. They'll fire me if it becomes a problem. 🤷‍♀️

May I ask what kinds of things you have been dealing with where you are to prompt this question?

Am I particularly uptight, or is writing meant to be done alone, without a partner talking to you? With past partners, we chat through script notes and then I go off to execute. Current partner likes to sit and chat as I write. To me, writing is crafting a conversation. So I can’t talk to you and simultaneously talk to this audience. Of course I can just say “I’m gonna go write.” But since we’re both CD level, I’m like…is this his first rodeo? Maybe other writers are different though.

Even in the Christian world, we can learn from secular teachers and scholars who have familiarized themselves with Biblical principles, even if they do not realize it. Who are some of these that you follow? Do you follow them often or sporadically? Currently I'm listening to the Jordan Peterson podcasts....www.jordanbpeterson.com/podcast/. Lots of great information from this psychologist who eventually found Christ. He has several audio books out as well. Worth your time to listen IMO...

Glad to be hear folks. I am sure I am not alone but I have experienced many attacks from my administration for simply answering questions about my faith in class or telling students I do not believe in abortion. Hoping to find some insights from others here in regards to still being a Christian example in public education without losing my job.

Summer Reading.
I've just started (finished the introduction only), but already I would recommend highly to anyone claiming the name of Jesus Christ as our Lord and highest authority. The author is a brilliant man I've listened to for years. There may be some here who won't like it, but I would encourage Christians everywhere to take a step back and think about what is going on here. This *will* affect the way we do life & our jobs, as well as the way we love one another as Christ has commanded.

Good Evening My Fellow Christian Educators! I realize it is going to be challenging for me this year...with so many of my students performing below grade level expectations in ELA and MATH and also ensuring that all students follow the COVID Guidelines in the classroom. I still feel hopeful that God will bless me with the knowledge on how to effectively impact each one of those kids. Let's remember to keep all educators lifted in prayer this year.
Have a wonderful school year!!
God Bless All❤️

"Christian" has become a confusing term for many in the outside world, I believe largely because it is used to describe a wide variety of denominations, each teaching something theologically unique.
What denomination do you most identify with? Did you grow up in this denomination, or did you arrive at this understanding later in life?

Friends, are you ready to take the 'good person' test?

1) How many lies have you told in your lifetime?

2) How many times have you stolen anything regardless of value?

3) How many times have you looked at a person with lust?

4) How many times have you used 'Jesus' or 'Christ' in place of a flithy cuss word?

The bad news is we all fail the test. The good news is that Jesus paid the price for us, so that if we repent and trust in Him we can enter beautiful Heaven and avoid horrendous Hell.
