I always find it morbidly amusing that congress spent so much time and money investigating this one incident but neglected to do their lessons learned for Iraq and Afghanistan where 1000x as many military died
I don't think your comments are contradictory at all. Bottom line that I think we are all trying to get at is, yes, it's a travesty, all death is - especially when the death occurs in service of ones county. However, it is impractical to assign political blame to a single individual, were mistakes made? Perhaps. But in the fog of war, mistakes happen and to make it a political issue to attack a single individual's character / judgement is unfair and narrow sighted. I am not by any means an HRC fan (not a trump fan either), but I don't fault her or hold her accountable for the Benghazi incident.
Sorry, minor correction, no such thing as a "former vet" once a vet, always a vet. And to answer your questions, very much mixed opinions on Benghazi, agree that we should have done more, but hate that the deaths of civil servants have become overly an politicized playing card.
Of course they shouldn't have died, but we can't control every single last detail of the universe. It is definitely unfortunate, but it is also a risk you take with the job- the same goes for the ambassador.
Agree with M1. It's become a political playing card. She made a bad judgement call, innocent people died and it's very unfortunate...but mistakes are going to happen
Here's the thing though- how is it reasonable to expect the Secretary of State to make a decision at that level? There are so many levels of bureaucracy between her and the action. I don't think that it is a reasonable connecting. Not fighting with D2, but just thinking it through as someone who has worked at State.
What difference does it make??? /s
P1 the difference it makes is that innocent lives are spent and used for political gain
The "what difference does it make" line is being really taken out of context. Maybe you should watch the hearing from start to finish
