How else can they break neutral or bad news in a gentle way? If the CEO wanted to take you to dinner as the very last step in the process, they would be leaving voicemails.
Recruiting is almost as cruel as dating.
They are going to tell you nothing about why they hired an internal and strung you along
I hope I am wrong but this seems more likely a rejection. You will find something better !!
Um why are people being so dramatic? I’m thinking this could be fine
I remember once I finally contacted prospective new employer and said “ I fully understand timing of a hire. But either tell me you want me but timing isn’t right or that you don’t want me. It’s okay”
I ended up going somewhere else pretty quickly because I think they still ghosted me
Accepting outcome with grace is a solid response.
General rule of thumb, if you're chasing them for feedback you aren't the first choice, but they ate not ready to tell you no incase they don't get their first choice.
