Unfortunately, in this economy, they are getting people to work for much lower wages than they normally would with much more experience. Two years is good, but they probably found someone with four, or six, or even more. I'm not sure it's anything you could've done, that's just how the market is right now.

I think if you can get the hiring manager (or team members) to like you more than the guy with more experience, that can tip the scale. Likability or “team fit” makes more of a difference than you think!

It could be the smallest of differences, or it could very well be that they have more experience.
That’s true. It’s just ashame sometimes that people get hired then leave in a couple of days because there actually not the right fit!
Personality and referrals are the two main ways to set yourself apart and get hired these days. You are competing with so many people, some with decades of experience, that it can be very difficult to be the one picked for a job If you didn't stand out in some other way.
Yeah that’s true. It’s a hard thing to do right now!! Job market is rubbish unfortunately!
