Any thoughts on playing hardball for early promotion? Senior 2 but have gotten 5s three years straight

My group promoted a bit to heavy last year/a few bad early promotes so I have heard from HR there is additional scrutiny this year but I didn't bust my ass/come work here to wait in line

like

Why not. What's the worst that happens? They say no? Even if that's the case, you will be a shoe in for next year

like

If you're really going to play hardball you'd threaten to quit, and if you do that it's better if you have an offer somewhere else for the roll you want. Otherwise you're just blowing steam.

I started using Great Balls in Pokemon Go today. They work better sometimes but not always. Hard balls are kind of like that too.

like

Yes. I did it in PI

Not sure what you mean by hardball but if you stay professional there is no downside. Promoting after S2 for top performers is not unheard of. Worst case you set the table for next year.

Getting promoted for October? I think they already made those decisions. So it may be a bit harder unless you have an offer you are willing to take. If you're a rising senior 2 I don't see why not though.

Yes you should

Do you get the feeling that there is a higher image promotion of women/minority people in Tech?I have seen way to many pictures from major tech companies that promote far more women/minorities than white males in their marketing materials.Wouldn't be better if we hired the best people no matter what the race/gender is?I know some companies are not publishing any gender/race stats but you cant't really demand a 50/50 ratio. Also there is no coincidence that most execs is some companies are British. So this goes both ways.

Would you take a freelance gig that would be a promotion (with potential to join full time) with a smaller company whose values you really agree with, OR a full-time offer for a lateral move with a larger company with teammates you know and trust? Of course factoring in all the nuances of covid. TIA!

I had a great review and a 5.5% raise and a great bonus at my company. But I also got a new Director and a peer manager of mine left the company, so I will be absorbing her team. In addition, my director said I will be receiving 'deep delegation' from them. I don't mind more work, but deep delegation is a new term I've never heard. What does that mean lol?

What is the difference between Principal Design Strategist & Design Strategist?

My current title is the latter and I’m interviewing for a Principal role. The title suggests it’s more senior and would appear to be a promotion on my resume but the jd sounds similar to what I’m already doing. I’m currently and IC, Principal is also IC. The only nuance I got from the recruiter is that there is no actual designing in this role.

Is this a case of title inflation?

Im interviewing for an internal promotion at my current employer. I’ve previously expressed a lot of interest in this specific role and it’s well known throughout my division my interest. Even though I’ve conducted informational interviews before now to get a feel of the role, now that I’m going through the full interview process, it doesn’t seem like what I want to do any more. I’m considering withdrawing my application, but I’m afraid of the optics and future career at this company. Thoughts?

I am planning on asking for a raise in my base salary and I am unsure what the market price would be for my skills at a staffing agency. I am in the top producer at my company with over 50 producers. I generate an average of $120k in GM per quarter. I am approaching my first year end review and I am currently at a base salary of $70,000 and I have 3 years of prior experience in the industry. What should I be asking for in this situation?

Does BNP APAC does background verification before sending offer letter or after sending the offer letter?

I have not been asked about the educational certificates yet.

They have only asked the PAN, PASSPORT and Current employer salalry slips and promotion letter.

P.s - I have recieved the offer letter now.

Will they be still doing any background verification or this is done ?
