Yep- welcome to it. Wild ride
It’s either now or when they’re in school. But I do recommend getting their adenoids checked especially if strep is recurring. If they do need to get removed, better now than when they’re an adult. Also may be worth getting ear tubes put in to get any extra liquid out.
I’m sorry, those first years as a parent are a doozy. Just know you’re not alone, we’ve all been there down for 5 days and feeling behind everything. Hopefully you work from home or have a shorter commute. Being close to home/school is key
Depending on when you started these activities, it can take a good year for their immune systems to get stronger. We put our son in daycare around 7 months and it was just a revolving door of sicknesses for a while. I will say, it got better around a year and a half. My kiddo also had tubes placed, and that's been a gamechanger. He never really complained about ear infections, but had constant congestion and fluid buildup, so who knows how many he truly had apart from the ones we caught and treated. Hasn't been sick other than 1 time since July.
The good news is that you’re getting exposed to so much right now that you’ll hardly ever get sick for much of the rest of your life!
I feel like that’s not how that works….
Welcome to the jungle
My child was sick roughly every 3 weeks from time he started daycare (4 months) to about 18 months. When he was sick, he would stay home 1-2 days with us (sometimes sickness fell on weekends though). Had everything from viruses to croup, and even hand foot and mouth (twice- which my husband also got, yikes). Add in teething and sleep regressions and it was wild… I know you don’t do daycare, but pretty much any public space for children will provide the same risk. Hang in there!! Tylenol and a humidifier… and some serious patience and willpower lol
Humidifier plume shifted and soaked him last night, I looked at the camera around midnight and was like “why is the baby in a cloud?” Sheets, pillow, sleep sack, stuffies…all soaked. Ugh
I am going through the same thing right now. I have had three colds in a row starting from the beginning of October to now. I can’t catch a break!
I can’t even tell people “sorry that’s late, I’m sick” - they’re starting not to believe it…or care
