Had a tough shift today - one of my patients reminded me so much of my dad. I unexpectedly got choked up and had to step away for a moment to collect myself. How do you stay present and professional when patients remind you of loved ones?

Some people might disagree, but I think it's OK to have very human moments. We are, after all, just people and not robots. I do what you do and step away when I need to take a minute for myself to collect myself.

So true

Things like that can happen and you just have to accept them. Sometimes it's nearly impossible not to feel a tinge of emotion over a patient, perhaps because they remind you of someone in your own life. The trick is to just keep your professional demeanor and move on from it when the moment passes.

Folks,
Have been married for 15 years and have a kid of 11 years. My spouse is falsely accusing me of domestic abuse and trying to get separated. We have had incompatibility even before marriage on various issues but it was an arranged marriage, we tried to work it out and stay together. Her side is asking her to move on. She has taken my kids passport and kept it with her. What are the options I have to defend myself?
