Had screener last week, and partner told me in person during it I’m going to the next round. It also went over for an hour, so I thought it went well. Now it’s been over a week and a few days, and I haven’t heard anything. I guess it’s a no now, or do these things just take a while?

Sometimes just takes a while. People get busy and prioritize other things.

I interviewed an Associate nearly two weeks ago, discussed hiring her with the other appropriate parties, and have been waiting since then for the administrative screening to be completed so that we can make a formal offer. It's infuriating on this end too, trust.

like

are you the person that interviewed me? 😂 just kidding lol

Things absolutely take time. Specifically if you are on a tail end of a round or there some additional internal processes.

like

TY - I am an opportunistic hire so there are def internal processes

Depending on practice, it may also be due to not getting the green light from another PG chair.

I waited 2 months for a third round because the group needed to run it up and down the private equity group chain.

Relax. Unless you were lied to to your face, just chill. Things can go lighting speed. Sometimes they take forever.

Not consistent across firms. What matters is what the hiring partner says.

For an opportunistic role

Thank you everyone!!!

Going on 3 weeks now, as a point of reference

I’ve had longer between rounds.

I lateraled into a niche practice group in Sept 2021. I also have a 1 year old and have been mostly remote since I started - but have been keeping busy tracking towards 2400-2500 hours. That said getting to know people only remote has been kind of awkward at times (email only can be tough to decipher) although as a working mom the pros vastly outweigh the cons. Yesterday my main partner asked me to come in Thursday bc he will be there and set a time to meet. Is this good/bad?? kind of nervous!
