I am starting a new job where I will be investigating sexual discrimination cases. Employment law will be a new practice area for me. Do you have any recommendations on good learning resources? Any treatises?

PLI is great!

They have annual CLE programs that they have recorded on their website - i think there’s even intro and multi-day. Very helpful!

What state?

Connecticut

This is going to be a tough fun, I do agree that PLI is probably your best best for learning. I've seen some firms send out employees (esp newer ones) to conferences and relevant events

Hey guys,

I have got an on-site opportunity from my company but the package they have provided seems less to me as per my work experience. Current YOE 12. Provided package for on-site (US - New Jersey) is 74.6 K.

What should be the minimum package offering and is there any negotiation possible.

I’ve recently been staffed on a deal with a partner (& one of the dept. chairs), a 1st year associate & summer associate (I’m class of 2018). I’m being given the opportunity to draft the main transaction documents, run diligence & for all intents and purposes serve as the senior associate. I generally feel as though I understand a transaction timeline & am appreciative of the opportunity/ challenge but any tips/ considerations/ things I may overlook would be appreciated.

I've been in tech for 7+ years so I know it's generally more relaxed but I need to go shopping before I start because I'm pretty sure my pajama pants under my desk won't cut it anymore!

Case load= malpractice? Small plaintiff’s firm of 25 attorneys. I was a 2 year associate hired and given 50 active files in pre litigation status. 9 mos later a partner quit and I inherited 45 more. I got up to 105 files. Now I hover at 85 active files in varying stages of pre lit. I asked managing partner for help and was told to settle more claims to lessen my load.
