McDermott
I would never recommend Goodwin or Ropes ahead of McDermott. It’s by far the best firm for healthcare/healthcare transactions.
Coach
McDermott stands alone at the top and Chambers confirms: https://chambers.com/legal-rankings/healthcare-the-elite-usa-nationwide-5:3155:12788:1

Definitely McDermott!
Ropes
Active firms in the space, some large some smaller: McDermott, Ropes, McGuireWoods, Waller, Hall Render, Polsinelli, Epstein.
McDermott—it’s not even close.
Goodwin is good too (but more focused on younger biotech companies)
Speaking from experience, Goodwin occasionally hires special counsel for healthcare diligence, regulatory, and transactional work. So they aren’t a full service shop for healthcare transactions.
Bass Berry & sims is mid-market but very strong in this area. Not big law pay but better balance
Hogan
In house healthcare attorney here. I’ve worked with them all. Ropes and McDermott are great and obv recognized as leaders in the healthcare space but I have felt generally that our matters have been better served by Hogan. Especially for matters that involve data privacy and global health. Polsinelli is also great for bread and butter health care work like MA and F&A. There are a lot of smaller big-law and regional firms that have solid health care groups as well. Bass Berry is one.
