Depends, how badly do you need the job?
Otherwise know your worth and stick to it.
As long as you sent a number that's reasonable you shouldn't obsess over it. Whether you priced yourself out is hard to say, that probably depends on how reliable your research was. And giving a number instead of a range probably won't matter. If they want to negotiate they'll suggest something else anyway.
That has happened to me before. I hate giving a number because then sometimes you short yourself. Doing your research is really important so you know what number to ask for.

If your job requires a post-secondary education, then it should be no less than twice what you need to scrape by living on your own. If it demands years of work experience, advanced skills, and responsibilities, then it should be even higher than that. When you negotiate, you usually give them that number +20% for a range.
Anything less than this is too low.
