Yeah you would think they'd realize that too...
I don't know why some employers are like that. I feel like it's not that hard to talk to your employees, find out what they need, and make sure they're well taken care of
If I had to guess it's probably because their higher-ups are jerks to them so they just take it out on the employees. Obviously not okay, but I guess it's not that much of a mystery
Because it's jerks all the way to the top, it's basically just a chain reaction of disrespect that ends with the lowest-level employees
Some people get a taste of the power and keep pushing to see what they can get away with. It's beyond frustrating how common it is for people to see someone as a role rather than a person deserving of respect.
You know that saying, "[excrement] rolls downhill"? If someone is really stressed they will take it out on anyone they can, which usually means someone who is lower in the pecking order. Then THAT person will take it out on someone lower than themselves... you get the idea. Unfortunate but 100% true in my observations.
Hmmm... I agree with you on a surface level, if what you're describing is actually jerky behavior. There are a lot of situations, though, where you will know less about an interaction than your supervisor does. If the general manager tells your boss that drivers are taking too long on their deliveries, and then your boss tells you that you need to work quicker, it's not really so much a case of them being a jerk towards you. They could be protecting you from The Powers That Be. You never really know
I feel for you, I'm kind of in the same boat right now. How can my supervisor think that being overly critical of every single thing is a good management strategy? I seriously would love to send them to some management training seminar
