What would be the best time to let my team know that we are closing down? It will happen next month, so I figured that in about a week or two should be good enough to give them a chance to start looking elsewhere.

I'd break the news to them as soon as possible. The more advance notice the better. I'd also expect productivity to drop. Good luck to everyone!

I think you should tell him immediately, I see it as a lack of respect that you don't tell your workers about what is happening to the company.

like

I think that in the labor market that we have, you should inform them immediately so that they have time not to be without work for a long time.

like

It is a very short time, if you close in January you must inform him now so that he can take advantage of Christmas and try to get another job.

like

Supply chain job positions are not easy to come by, so you should tell them right away so they can expand their possibilities.

like

Now. Christmas holidays will eat up half of the month, you need to tell them now

Out of respect I'd say a month, especially since it's Christmas period. It will be hard for people to look for work after then. Also allow them to make the choice on how much to spend this Christmas holiday, many may slow down spending if they know they don't have a job.

4 weeks, and some sort of help with resume writing workshops etc.

I think your time frame is correct, it seems like a very good idea.

I think you expect to tell them two weeks before so that they will accompany you until the end, but that seems to be something quite negative on your part, those people can use the time they spend taking your company to the end looking for work.

Wouldn’t you want to know right away, or would 1-2 weeks be ok for you?

Frankly, you should give 4-6 weeks minimum. And if the company hasn’t contracted any kind of outplacement (career transition) services try to get one asap to mitigate their employment gap and the company’s unemployment payout. I know a good one if you need a referral and think you can still make that happen, even if it’s just resume cleanups and networking.
