Huh? Why would you apply?
I started in NYC and then moved away for personal reasons after 6 months. I used to travel to NYC every week for about a year then slowly started going less and less. Covid then hit and I’ve been remote since.
What would constitute success in this scenario? Getting a remote offer? I've applied to jobs out of state, but made clear that I would need a remote role. I still scored an interview, but not an offer.
I reached out to the hiring manager on LinkedIn, basically explained why this was my dream job, but that due to family obligations would be unable to relocate. It worked well enough to get an interview 🤷🏻♀️
I’m in a similar boat. I need to move for a year for my spouse’s job but would like to not get barred in a new state. Would prefer to just work remote for a year and wish that was more common

There’s payroll tax implications if you’re not working in the same state as the employer (not to mention potential UPL). Even if granted, I’d be surprised if they didn’t put a cap (say 90 days, when the probation period ends).
We’re not in COVID anymore, those wonky workarounds and perks (hello 2.5% fixed 30yr mortgage!) aren’t going to happen again.
