Work on one project at a time. Revolutionary.
If both projects have the same stakeholder then just explain to them that context switching is hampering your delivery and negotiate to focus on one. If multiple stakeholders try to find common stakeholder, manager to speak to. If you are freelancer...pick your projects more carefully 🙂
Thanks for your honest response. It’s definitely helpful 🙂

I have always worked multiple projects at a time. Only time I found it difficult was when I started two projects at the same time.
Maybe if you give some examples, we'd be able to help?
Yes that’s exactly my case. I am working on two projects that I started working on around the same time and have similar deadlines. Both the projects have different technologies that I am working on which are seemingly new to me. To give you a brief idea, one is bug fixing in Python (m from a stronger Java bg) and the other one is around developing a CI/CD pipeline.
There’s a lot of learning that is happening along the way but thought I’ll just reach out to my network of more experienced SWE friends to understand what you all might be doing if you face a similar situation.
I find this only doable for projects that are in a maintenance/chore mode. Anything that requires extended concentration will not tolerate juggling. I had an employer gaslight me once into thinking I was unique in that regard and was asking for special treatment when I asked them to prioritize so I could work on one at a time. Don’t let them do the same to you.
