Fellow expats, how do you handle the holiday season in Singapore? There's no way I can go all the way back to the States for Christmas, and I'm already feeling the pangs of homesickness creeping in.

I’m currently at a boutique agency where it’s just me and my boss doing RM for about 200+ people. I have been there for almost a year and have implemented some new processes that are starting to help streamline the process. I currently make $85K. Is this an appropriate salary for my level? I am being approached for RM roles at consulting firms and other agencies. I like the idea of building something here but would also like better benefits (more vacation, better mat leave).

For those of you who went out of town but didn’t necessarily request PTO, what did you do in the instance where you had a morning flight which meant missing the first 2-3 hours of work? Did you communicate this to your team, resource manager?

I still plan on making up the missed hours later in the day, I just don’t want to have to communicate it unless I have to.

Feeling tired and also eating more from being sedentary at my laptop all day. I realize that I have so much more energy AND eat less when I am out and about on the weekend/vacation. Any tips to not fight this set back 5/7ths of the week?

Those at Deloitte, how are you getting 6 months? 4 months is family leave, is it one month can be short term disability? And then another month is just PTO?

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. For those of you that are citizen / PR. Do you get tons of Singapore recruiters chasing you for roles which are way out of your focus area, getting interviews done only to be ghosted after? I had a few of these and decided to not entertain anymore. My general feeling is they use me to 1- get a salary benchmark, and 2- check the box to interview an “unqualified” local only to use it as justification to get an EP for a foreigner they were targeting to bring here in the first place.
