Anyone suiting up for the office?

I’m in Chicago, and I feel like I’ve been seeing a lot more suits in the loop.

I'm in shorts and sandals today. Hundreds of miles from the nearest major city though.

Only my office managing partner. Some people just don't have anything else in their wardrobe and don't see the point in changing now. Honestly though, I like to wear a jacket with jeans, and still feel like I'm over dressed walking in the loop these days. I haven't noticed an increase in suits, but I also only go to my office one day per week.

like

Nope. Firm is casual thank goodness

like

Nice pants and a blazer with no tie is the look.

like

Last time I wore a suit for work was 2017 when I spoke at a seminar. I haven’t noticed any change in the loop.

How did you give notice you were lateraling to people you like? Particularly if you haven't been there that long?

I'm lateraling to another firm because frankly I think the management of this one is terrible, but the people (and individual partners) I actually work with are awesome. I've only been here for about 18 months, so I imagine that short time frame will make it extra awkward 😬

My direct report is fresh out of college. Tons of talent but is showing to be pretty cocky. They are overconfident about their place in the ecosystem of the office, ask inappropriate questions, CONTD

When you tell your manager you are unhappy and they are excited that you are putting your notice and don't try and make any changes b/c the new person/persons they are lining up will just cleanup and make it better.

Then, they get here and you are left to train them on everything you do and your manager keeps saying "I owe you an apology" because they didn't realize how taxing and mind wrecking most processes you handled were... welcome to corporate
