I once did this in India, but you have to be very careful. A pandit ji had offered to help us and claimed to know people, but later we discovered that he had arrangements with both the seller and the supposed recipient. His plan was to help us buy the cow from one place, donate it to another, and then quietly return it to the seller to keep the money.
Eventually, through our own contacts, we found a family who genuinely needed the cow. We also spoke directly with dairy owners to understand where to find a healthy cow to donate.
I’ve heard Vrindavan is a good place for such donations—many people go there—but it’s important to stay cautious. Unfortunately, there are people who try to take advantage of good intentions. Also always make sure the person or family accepting the cow will truly care for it.
We were also told not to just give money for cow as in ‘parchi katana’. It has to be a physical daan.
I found a Gurukul which has a Gaushala
We will essentially purchase the cow from them and will give it back to them
Find a local small town to live pandit ji who will take care of Gau mata. we have done few times and always check
