I went to portfolio school and am still in pharma, but it’s because I like it. It also pays 40% more. I’ve been at agencies that let us work on all-agency briefs for consumer. It’s not much different. But not as fulfilling. I’ve had friends who wrote cereal or car commercials for a year straight and couldn’t stand it.
I heard that but they told me it was only 1 a year or something
In the current market, I’d say nearly impossible unless you have connections. I have mostly consumer experience but switched to pharma a few years ago. and even for me trying to switch back right now would be a feat. There are just too many folks with recent consumer experience looking for work
Probably about as hard as getting your first agency job, since that is essentially what you are doing. Ie, probably need to go to portfolio school etc

A friend of mine did it. Grey Health to FCB consumer. Can take some years of networking and spec campaigns
I went from pharma as a midweight cw to in-house as a senior. But I had only done pharma for ~6-8 months and didn’t have much to show for it in my book.
Totally different alphabet. Good luck!
Has always been very difficult to do this, and now more so - sorry to report
