I worked for a company and then they transitioned me to remote. I think it is very hard to get hired into remote because there’s extreme competition for those jobs.

The competitions in remote as made me to start doubting how authentic it's before applying.

I recently landed a fully remote role and it was exactly what I was looking for and wanted.
To clarify, remote roles offer the best work life balance for those that value family and flexibility. The background, skills, or experience doesn’t necessarily matter much for landing a remote vs hybrid/onsite role.
I’ve been working remotely for many years even before covid. It’s not for everyone, it’s a choice for those that don’t like commuting and the office politics and drain your productivity.

Its a different world working remotely. Most jobs hire you as a private contractor, so no overtime or benefits. I have seen many remote Content Moderator jobs on Linkedin. Im an AI Data Annotator and just to give you a picture of how one can be treated when they work these types of jobs. I worked 14 hours yesterday and only got paid for 4 because there is a kind of AI glitch that prevented me from submitting my work in the allotted time. No chance to finish it off the clock, no partial payment, zilch, Many contractors have complained vehemently but to no avail. Also know some companies are much better than others. That being said, if you really want to work remotely, with you background, I think you could easily get a job with one of these AI companies. Best wishes. Jo

The company I work at allows remote according to your project that you’re on. Some practices require hybrid three days a week with the vast majority allows remote work if your team is remote, would they strongly encourage us to visit the office. It’s just not enough room for everyone at our local office or to even be a requirement.

A "remote tech role" is quite literally the hardest job to get in the current job market. Due to an unprecedented number of tech layoffs in recent years that is an inordinate number of well-qualified people looking for jobs, and on top of that, every single less-qualified person in the country is applying to that same role aimply for the fact that it's remote making it impossible for good candidates to get visibility.
All that aside, it took me years into my career of solid performance to "earn" the trust to work remotely, entry-level roles will not be offered as remote, and for a very good reason.
To summarize, breaking into tech as a newcomer is harder than ever, and doing so in a remote role is unlikely tk out it politely.
Hear me out on this topic. I believe a remote job is a dead end job. If you are not in the office networking with leadership, being seen and being top of mind for opportunities then don’t be surprised if you are not selected for promotion and getting ahead. I am not saying you need to be in the office 5 days a week but three is a good number. There was a group of us who started at the same time (2022) at the same level. The person who decided to move to a place without an office nearby has missed promotion twice, is constantly under the threat of being let go. That person is considered disposable.
So if you are in a job you love and do not want more then remote is great. If you are in tech and want advancement, work out a routine to get in the office.
I understand that this opinion is not popular in tech, but many tech jobs will be replaced by technology.
