Two offers: (1) big 4 technical accounting in financial services and (2) technical accounting for a well-known PE firm helping their portfolio companies. Same compensation and benefits. Advice please!

Depends if you want to work in PE, if there are growth opportunities, and salary growth.

Sounds like one you have the opportunity to work with a large experienced team, have technical resources to back you up, people to help you do the work, etc. At the PE firm I would expect you are on your own or with a much smaller team with less resources. So depends on what you want at this stage of your career

I would go the PE route. Financial services technical accounting is kinda limited. Portfolio companies will be broader and better experience. However I would agree with EY2 in terms of making sure you have a good boss at the PE firm that you can learn from

I’ve been running into weird happenings at my new firm learn of everything “I misunderstood” about my package. I don’t actually qualify for quarterly bonuses at a pro-rated billing rate; no 401ks till year 2; and the biggest—we don’t qualify for a raise unless we are here during the entire fiscal year. We have a 2100 billable req which I’m barely hitting. We also get paid below 6 figures. I learned that the new associates came is at least $10k over us. I graduated 2020–but 1st firm job. Advice?

Hi all, I just got a job offer at PwC for a senior consultant position. The salary is 30% above my total comp right now, but I’m just worried about the amount of work I will have to put in compared to my amazing work life balance now. Does anyone have any experience moving from industry to consulting? I need some advice on what to do. I’m still early in my career (1.4yoe) so I feel like I shouldn’t care too much about wlb, but at the same time, I don’t want my mental health to suffer either.
