Has anyone transitioned from debtor to creditor and/or UCC work that has any insight? I know UCC work is considered less dynamic / fulfilling than debtor or even creditor work, but does it possibly create a bit of any easier life, or more WLB? Maybe in the long run / around equity partner time?

I transitioned to a UCC shop from debtor shop. I am just as busy, if not busier doing UCC work. It’s more litigious.

Very interesting and definitely not how the picture is usually painted! Do you like the work / see a longterm future at least?

I’m so bad at writing the background/ facts section for briefs… it always gets heavily edited and no one is giving me constructive feedback other than “advocate more”. In contrast, my legal argument section is generally without edits. For context, first defense lit job post appellate clerkship. Is this normal?? Any tips for getting better other than “advocating more”?

I recently had a specialist partner send me a fairly nasty email after I (a transactional first year) was told to ask them to review something ASAP that had clearly been on my partner’s radar for over a week. Transactional associate. Lateraled 6 months ago and one of the biggest pain points has been my new firm’s inclination to “hop on a call”, which of course requires every single stakeholder to join. The end result being every call has 25 people on it and nothing actually gets done because no one wants to ask a question that could come off as silly. It’s destroying my ability to get anything done during the day. It’s a complete performance and it drives me nuts.
