Yes, I’ve done it. CBT works for some people and it’s offered on the NHS as well, it doesn’t work for me. On the other hand, counselling or talk therapy can be of different kinds and can have various success rates based on the type of therapy and also the style of the therapist. You can opt for a person centered therapist or the classic psychotherapist. The only condition is that it’s an AXA approved therapist . For complex trauma for example CBT is not really effective nor recommended. good luck!
Interesting I think I’ve been referred to counselling not therapy. I’m good at looking at situations and saying things happen for a reason or someone’s acting a certain way out of their own insecurities or having empathy for why for example parents are a certain way because of their own upbringing. But I need support with understanding how my childhood impacts behaviours I accept from relationships and also I don’t care about people judging me but when I’m being judged or attacked by other people unnecessarily for my life choices because of their own jealousy or whatever reason how can I not get frustrated or overthink …so not sure what type of therapy is best. Thing is I’m quite self aware as a person and optimistic so I’m not depressed or anything but I do have things that upset me and I would want someone to challenge my thoughts or give me a different way of dealing with things than I already am. Don’t see how talking therapy will help but not sure what therapy is ‘good’ for what I’m looking for
