Has your company ever done a cost of living salary increase? I recently saw an article on LindkedIn saying many companies are planning one but I haven’t heard firsthand of anyone getting one of these recently

I had a COLA around 2020. First and last time for me. High hopes one happens soon because salaries are not keeping up, but I will believe it when I see it. Of course, “planning” can take a while.

That’s awesome! What was your COLA then if you don’t mind sharing?

Yes I had one also in 2020. My employer increased our salary by $5k

That’s nice! I’d appreciate anything

That’s essentially what our raises look like every year. We don’t get more than 3%, and they say it’s performance-based, but we all pretty much get the same raise. It’s really more of a cost-of-living increase—they just don’t call it tha

Yeah that’s what we’ve gotten too, but even 1-3% increases don’t account for inflation. Now companies are hiring new people with much higher salaries—it’s very unfair, but I know it’s part of corporate life.

Do you agree with this? I think it’s true due to social pressure on women to derive a value based on how desirable they are to men and whether or not, they are partnered with a man.

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

I have an offer and want to negotiate

1. London base salary but I have to absorb all the expenses (train + stay)
I am thinking to negotiate to

2. home base salary and have my expenses paid for

I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.
