Hate these meetings with no agenda but to just have a 'quick chat'. First off, there's always an agenda, and it's usually a bigger one than you're imagining. Secondly, it's never quick. Why can't they just keep it real and say it like it is? Are meetings like this standard fare, or do we just have a conniving little manager?

I had a “colleague” that used to pull that in a recurring invite and she was always looking for gossip or something she could use to offer up for her benefit. It was PAINFUL, so I just declined them with a “regrets” and would ignore her “are you going to reschedule or should I”. I eventually confronted her about it and they stopped, but not before she trashed me to her Manager who then complained to my Manager. Good times.

OMG! I thought it was just my manager's style of bringing us up to speed to evolving policies that are hard to swallow but I guess it is standard. I know the minute I get a random meeting with 'no agenda' that something is up. This isn't the creative industry, we don't have anything to chat about for fun,and neither do we have the time... so why lie to all of us for no reason.

These are the downside of remote work. In an office you can literally walk over to someone and have a quick chat to pass along information, ask a question, etc. But in a remote work world where everyone is beholden to their outlook calendar, scheduling a meeting is often the only way to achieve this. It's why I legitimately like hybrid work - I can get all of those quick discussions out of the way in person then focus on deliverables when I'm home.

I have started a side hustle with two friends. It's Climate Tech related. We have been working with it for the past year as a part-time hustle. We want to take it to the next stage.

My two other friends have a background in consultancy and one of them had a mentor who is really high up at a Big4. He would like to join the start up as a Partner. He seems really experienced and could help raising money, although he does not seem to care about climate change.

Advice on applying to PM jobs with 1yr APM experience?

I’ve been working as an APM at my current company for 1yr, and have basically been doing the work of a full blown PM the entire time. I’ve lead several features from start to finish and made sure to mention in my resume that I have been doing everything a regular PM does. Has anyone ever hired an APM for a PM role or done it yourself? Any tips? Advice?
