Have a 5 year old boy and 3 year old girl and they’ve never really watched movies or TV. We’re wanting to do a movie night with them at home. Any recs for a good first movie??

No movie recommendations per se. But if you want to try and make it special would suggest diming the lights, getting popcorn, having stuffies nearby. Make it feel different and just makes it feel like more special to both you and them.

We had Friday family night. One of the kids would pick the movie, taking turns of course. We pretty much watched all the Disney, Pete the Dragon was a big hit, Whini the Pooh, Mr Dress Up (Canadian show that we got in Mi). When they were a little older, it changed to game night (board games). We’d make it special and have them invite a friend, prearranged of course and w the idea that it might run a little late (9-9:30). We also had family meetings weekly when our boys (now adults) pretty much through MS then it dropped off to maybe once a month.. We’d get a bowl of popcorn or bag of mms or the like and open the floor. We still have family meetings when something big is going on, it’s zoom now given the kids are all over the place.

Cherish these days, they’re magic! 💖

My little one is obsessed with Mary Poppins (the original) right now. If your kiddos have any favorite music, I would pick the movie it came from!

Mary Poppins is such a good one! My kids were skeptical at first and then LOVED it.

Most of the Disney movies were too scary for my older kiddo when he was that age - Cars, Elemental, and 101 Dalmatians were all okay.

like

Agree on Cars and Elemental. Also can think about Inside Out, Raya and the Last Dragon. Paw patrol or Dora movies. Kung fu Panda series, CoCo, Moana, Vivo, Luca

Toy story is good but only if you skip the Sid crazy toy torture scene.

We do pizza Fridays like this - Float, Spirited Away, and Mr. Popper’s Penguins on HBO max were a hits as was Shrek, ‘Mitchells vs the Machines’ or the Wild Robot on Netflix.

It’s safe to say that outside of the Disney classics, most of what they made in the mid 2000s is garbage until they reverse integrated Pixar and came out with Inside Out, Frozen, Moana, and Coco

Good recs…Spirited Away is very memorable but I may pump the breaks on it for a 5 and 3 year old. That movie has some disturbing stuff for young kids lol

Cars. 101 Dalmatians.

The Jungle Book is a great little story and they have great songs too. I still love watching some these oldies but goodies.

The Peanuts Movie! The one created by Blue Sky, out several years ago. Some cute slap-sticky scenes for littles and zero violence/scary characters, with a message about being true to yourself and never giving up. Christopher Robin is about Pooh, and generally speaking nice and slow with very mellow colors but there is a part in the middle where Pooh is lost in the woods and thinks there are perceived Heffalumps or something. We fast forwarded through that part when ours was 3. Probably fine for the 5 y/o though. I also agree with Moana or Encanto but both (like most movies) have a spooky scene in the middle that might need an adult near a remote to FF through. Cars, however, is pretty much entirely neutral like Peanuts. Don’t need a remote for any of those. If you are really looking for wholesome that the entire family will like… I highly recommend a few episodes of Bluey. First 5 episodes are a snooze but trust me when I tell you, it is peak childhood viewing experience! No fast forwarding needed, great messaging, short episodes so you can work in breaks and will entertain the entire family for as long as desired. It’s the best!

If they've never watched I movie, I would suggest tart watching some TV game shows, were they can see TV, and happy people, smiling.

I had a client who claimed that he only allowed his child to watch programs on PBS. Then he added, " ...and The Simpsons, because all his friends talk about it, and I don't want him to feel left out".

funny

Why have they never watched movies or TV ?
Not even "Sesame Street" ?

It just never really came up at home. Our son was premature and had a lot of therapy when he was a baby. The therapists at the time all said not to show him screens until he was 2 and after that we didn’t think about it much but just kept to our same rhythm. At school and when we’ve gone to museums and stuff they’ve seen short films and similar things

What are you considering when assigning cases to firms in the defense panel. I’m a 2nd year associate at a national ID firm (~300 attorneys) and want to create rapport with claim managers I’m currently working with. Any advice?

Alternatively, is there something that will cause you not to assign cases to particular firm?
