Question about inclusion…. I’ve been teaching inclusion for 5 years so I’m still a newb, but a first year coworker of mine said she got points off on her observation because her kids were scattered in the classroom and she was having to move from kid to kid to assist. Junior associate. Should leave my firm and I follow a new partner in another firms’s established debt finance dept., or follow a new partner creating another big law debt finance dept. ? I’m leaving my firm no matter what, but have to chose between these two options - I’m looking for the most interesting experience !

Beginning to consider going in house (4th, corp) - I really haven’t thought about what I want, partly because I’m not sure what’s out there/attainable. Is it a bad idea to start by applying to a couple positions that interest me and seeing where that gets me? I’ll of course prep for the interviews but am afraid to burn potential bridges if I ultimately decline because I’m still figuring things out.

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school

I’m a first year that’s inching toward second year. Partners in my group say “sometimes getting thrown into the deep end is the best way to learn.” However, I feel so lost. I feel like saying the above is just an excuse for not wanting to take the time to actually teach new associates.

Any references for good tutoring services for the bar? Repeat taker and want to make sure I pass this time. I’ve already looked at the tutoring that barbri etc offer and I am looking for a person/service which isn’t part of a course. TIA!

How do you manage competing interests during a singing or closing? I’m working on a closing scheduled for this week (obviously everything needs to be done asap) and while I’ve told folks on my other deals that this closing is very busy, I’ve gotten really snarky responses and have been told that I’m taking too long to respond to stuff that (in my opinion) is not urgent on these other deals. Everyone seems to think that their task is more important than an actual closing. Advice?

I am a in a small specialist group who has 2 partners, and they both give me work. One of them said to not worry about my hours (though they do not know how low of a number i’m projected for). Haven’t asked the other.
