Hello All. I’m a senior associate with a 6 figure book looking to lateral into BigLaw. I have been in and out of BigLaw so not breaking in necessarily. I have a lot of privacy and AI counseling and regulatory experience. Not interested in litigation. Looking for a firm referral with good culture and reasonable hours. I am not the bill 2400 type of person. Also, I don’t like recruiters so looking for referrals here. Hopefully referring me also gives you a bonus :)

What was the hardest class year for you? I used to think first year was by far the hardest but now I’m a third year and I’m really feeling the pressure to step up. I work in finance and at this point I’m expected to handle closing documents, manage first years, draft some portions of major docs, etc. I feel like I’m always frazzled, constantly second guessing if I handled something correctly and anxious to answer calls from clients/OC. The worst part is I think people can tell I’m a mess....

Anyone have any CIPP/US practice questions besides the 30 from the IAPP?

Govt attorney here. Trying to jump into privacy now. In house or big law ? Pros and cons in the world of privacy ?

Planning to take the CIPP and CIPM. Will be doing self-study. What is the “book” everyone refers to for studying? Is it just the “study guide” the IAPP sells? Does anyone know if the study guides and sample questions you can buy on amazon are sufficient to use for passing? Appreciate any and all advice.

In terms of taking the next step to elevate your career- what items are you heavily focusing on? I have speciality in data governance as well as product counseling, but curious to know what others find most helpful in their practice areas.

Low billable, low pressure work in privacy law? Slowly realizing that as my boys get older, the money isn’t worth what I’m missing out on. Currently a tech litigation associate with lots of hearing, depo and trial experience (I’ve appeared on my own at hearings/depos) at a well respected firm. I have limited privacy experience despite being hired for that reason… Have my CIPM and CIPP/US /E and /C. Remote preferred; hubs is pilot with cool intl transfer opportunities. Money isn’t issue.
