Same, but that is rarely ever the way I’m given assignments. It’s so bad I have to record EVERY file review meeting with the partner to refer back to for action items and details, etc.

Drives me absolutely insane.

I 1000% feel this!!! But I know a lawyer bowl is a safe place to note that I want the meme corrected to "oral" so I can share it with my friends. 😂

funny

Me too! I’ve had partners get annoyed when I take notes as if I’m being rude. I literally won’t remember if I don’t. And if I make it look like I’m listening I am focused on appearing attentive and not on what’s being said.

I’ve suffered from workaholism for a long time. Thanks to a lot of great self help books and therapy, I’m no longer putting work on a pedestal and I’m spending a lot more time on self care and my marriage. But, unfortunately, I am now getting withdrawals, because my body is used to the daily adrenaline of throwing myself into work. It’s this terrible feeling of like anguish/unease in my gut, but I don’t have anything I’m worried about- it’s like my body wants to find something to worry about.

I started taking Adderal, 2.5 g which is not really a lot. It didn’t really help with my focus, instead I felt restless and somehow nervous and really thirsty. And it made me clench my teeth. I do grind my teeth during nighttime but never experienced this in the daytime. Does it take time to get used to it?

Curious how many PMs here have ADHD? Just had my performance review and it was (paraphrasing) “you’re really good at your job, super organized & detail oriented, empathic & check in on the work and the people, but you have to not talk like you have ADHD” I’m already on the highest dosage of meds possible and I don’t think they realize how much of an effort it is already to try to avoid talking like I have ADHD as much as I do currently and it’s still not enough. Feeling demoralized.

With everything that's going on with the collapse of Afghanistan, the delta variant causing more sickness and death, wild fires out west, family deaths, and too much work, I just want to give up. Rationally I know that is probably not the case, just mentally over it!

One of my frustrations with myself (writing it out here so I can work on it) is that I will print out something that I need, such as a traffic collision report. I will read it without actually reading it. This results in spending time without actually retaining info. Does this happen to anyone else? I’ve found that I can actually focus when I truly force myself, but often this happens after I’ve discovered an error or an important piece of information that I should have noticed earlier.

Posting here since I know I’ll get shamed further in other bowls and I’m already feeling shame. I have noticed that panic turns into shame spirals for big projects, especially when someone is counting on me.
