Ignore the comments that say Cap Hill, that place is a cesspool, shootings there nearly every weekend too. Pick SLU over cap hill, you are still within walking distance and can enjoy places there without having to live in the middle of it
@BCG1 I’m moving to Seattle later this year, can you let me know the names of some of the newer buildings with garages?
Lower Queen Anne
Cap hill is one of the least safe neighborhoods. Worst than ever - there is always some crazy stuff going on there. (Agreed - Food and nightlife is great tho)
Lower Queen Anne, West lake and Interbay are much better choices. (Similar or lower rent) No trash people, no needles, no crackheads (although lower queen anne is getting worse, lately)
Its just my view from what I’ve seen countless times…
Really depends on OP’s needs, I have friends go who to climbing gyms everyday, go play golf, ski multiple times a week, go out to eat at new places that aren’t walkable. If you don’t want to be reliant on friends with a car I highly recommend it. Most of the ppl I know who don’t have a car don’t leave the vicinity of their apartment much (which is fine), but you will feel restricted, especially having to go and wait at bus stops in cold rainy winters.
Keep in mind, Seattle is a very introverted city, if that’s not you, you will want to get out and around. Many people are happy not leaving their apartment much
Capitol Hill! Lots of great bars, restaurants, music venues, cafes, gyms, and dog friendly parks. Awesome Sunday farmers market. Light rail station makes it easy to travel North / South through the city. Easy walk, scooter, bike, bus to South Lake Union.
Capitol Hill! Super fun neighborhood and you can take the train to work which is just one stop to the Westlake station and you can walk to the Amazon offices. That’s what I do!
Fremont
Budget?
Sorry! Preferably closer to 2k-2.5k for a one bedroom
Ballard, but deep Ballard closer to the market not close to Trader Joe’s or Quest church.
LQA is walkable to your work area, has a good restaurant/coffee/bar scene, relatively quiet depending on where you are. Also good proximity to Climate pledge for events and you can find places within your budget.
Lots of Gym options, and try Queen Anne Beer Hall or Streamline Tavern for sports.
I would definitely get a car. That also gives you a lot more options for where to live. I wouldn’t recommend Cap Hill.
