If it’s at the Tampa Service Center, stay away. I was an EA there and hated every minute of it. 12-13 assigned consultants for each person, toxic work environment, team leads who have zero clue how to manage a team….I could go on and on
NY has an amazing team of EAs. Most work a 9-5pm day, with some OT here and there while others work more OT. It’s up to you, how efficiently you work and the boundaries you implement to strike balance.
Recently left the firm. I worked in multiple locations and while the in house EAs (not Tampa/Costa Rica centers) are treated better in general, there is a bery large divide between EAs and other colleagues. I felt like a second hand citizen most of the time and overall didn’t feel valued in a number of ways. Despite being in the top performing group in review cycles, my partners never seemed satisfied with the amount of work I did for them.
A large portion of the job is up to the absolute random chance of what partners/ other colleagues you’ll be supporting, as they don’t always have you interview with those you’ll be supporting. Some partners are great- others are the worst.
If you are looking for a stepping stone into higher level C suite support roles or chief of staff style roles, the McKinsey name does mean something.
