I’m an Assistant who has to move out of Vancouver (Canada) due to immigration :(
I have quite some time to figure out my next move but want to start thinking about it.
I don’t really have a home to go back to… so I’m thinking where should my next destination be. I want to look at countries/cities that have an editorial presence, be it commercial or feature. Any ideas?

Anyone here from Canada, who went through TN Visa process recently with Google, that can share their experience and timeline of getting the visa? I am planning to take some time off to wrap up relocation related stuff and manage notice period as well so it would be good to get some insight on timelines. Would be great if people here who went through the process can share their experience!

If your employer mandated you need to come in 5 days a week would you consider quitting? My situation is I live in my geographical territory and the office is 45 minutes away. No performance issues at quota consistently.

Would love some insight on how you went from an HR assistant/coordinator to an HR Generalist. I’ve been in the HR world for 8 years, and only in the last 2-3 have I really done real HR work. The first company I was at didn’t have a solid HR team so I don’t really count that. I feel like I’m ready to take on more responsibility and learn more. And of course make more money.

I have looked into getting SHRM certification. But should I go back to school and get my masters in Hr?

Are there any good paying weekend research/lab jobs in Austin Texas? Because I’m getting $23/hr as a research coordinator and know for a fact I’m being under paid lol all because I am “new to research” yet I have a bachelors is biology and have done research projects in school and have plenty of other work experience…. EDITORS.. do you find that you work weekends on EVERY SINGLE JOB when your cutting for the first screening? No matter what the job is like, no matter how complicated or not, no matter the ship date, I find that I have to work weekends to accommodate the first screening.

Are post-houses ramping back to in-person? I’m freelance and so far have had a couple in-person sessions but everything else has still been remote. I’m in NYC.

Does anyone include a bit on invoices like "Accounts not paid within terms are subject to a .75% monthly (9% annual) finance charge" or something like that?

Tangentially, has anyone had an invoice with 30-day terms kicked back for revisions because the client's terms are longer, or do they just ignore what you've stipulated?

Thinking about making the jump from senior level in-house to freelance. 12+ years experience. Shoot, edit, color, after effects, mix, etc. What kind of day rate could I expect in Mpls or Chi?

Website question: is it bad to have a few spots that are over five years old? I keep them down at the bottom and the majority are much newer so they sort of serve as a ‘best of’ my older work.
