I make 340k freelancing. I would need at least 250k and a lot of freedom. I would also need to see that you have qualified reps on staff if commission based. And I have to love my team.

I definitely double book myself, it’s been way more possible in a work from home situation.
Nyc, 15+ years, I would want 250k+ at a post house. Probably wouldn’t consider in-house at an agency.

I would need 85k + commission at a decent post house or 105k at an agency. Both need excellent benefits. I’m 10+ yrs exp and live in the Midwest.
250k guaranteed plus reasonable commission at a mid tier post house, or draw on 20% at a really good boutique that can get my billings at or north of $1.5MM and an airtight multi year contract. 20 years in this business.
Rips are my passion.
10 YOE, 180k+ at agency, plus benefits. I don’t think I’d consider staff at post house.
Honestly, it’s maybe less of a ‘don’t want to’ and more of a ‘don’t know how to break into and am doing ok not figuring that out’. I’ve always worked for smaller, full-scale documentary companies, and briefly, an ad agency, so I couldn’t even tell you a post house anywhere near me or know what that life looks like.
Doesn’t pay depend on if you have clients?
Years of experience doesn’t count for a whole lot if you don’t bill - or bring clients with you.
It depends on your Billings.
I think the average commission would be broadly 15 to 25% of your Billings
This question is framed for people not going the post house / commission route
