Are y’all raising rates to account for inflation? Am I stupid if I haven’t yet?

It’s more like raise your rates when you can. It all depends on how price sensitive your clients are

like

I upped my rate this year but not because of inflation specifically, more like I want to give myself a raise every few years.

like

I had already raised about a year ago and I sort of think I’ve topped out (for now) so I haven’t specifically raised it in 2022. I will say though that I’ve stopped quoting a 10 hour day (I had been taught this was standard in nyc) and am now quoting an 8 hour day, which in effect does give me a raise when those terms are accepted.

like

I too thought this was standard. Coming from nyc. LA now and everyone seems to think 8?

I have raised them and haven’t received any pushback. I feel like it’s expected!

like

The 8 hour 10 hour 12 hour part of the negotiation is weird to me anyway, are agency people always taking you to max hours?

Not always but capping at 8 hours makes my hourly rate breakdown higher (and my OT rate higher) so I make more money. Either my time is more respected or I make more, so win win.

like

For the clients that have been keeping me remote I’ve kept my rates. Anyone that wants me back in the studio is getting a higher rate.

Good to know, are you in nyc as well?

Hi what all we need to do before joining ? I have taken the print out of all the forms that we need to submit but do we need to mail them to someone or do we need to submit the hard copy of that.

I joined pwc last month, and absolutely hating it here. Each weekend has been working, 12-15 hours work day is minimum expectation. And there's extreme hierarchy, where even after you spend 24 hours working on something, the director decides he wants something completely different and you delete and restart. (Note that you request them to review and give their pov earlier on, but they never take the time out)

Just signed the outside employment form in KPMG onboarding system. I actually wanted to start dabbling in creative writing as a potentially monetizable hobby, but I'm guessing this may pose issues.

Definitely interested in the "exception from this policy may be requested if provision of non-professional services doesn't interfere with one's duties of causes conflict of interest" clause, though. Has anyone been able to get one of those before?

Need a sanity check here.

When I joined my current company, we were on a quarterly bonus structure with guaranteed payouts each quarter. This was, in fact, how the recruiter said he could meet my salary request.

The company just announced we are moving to annual payouts only, with no payments for 2023 until May 2024. There are no raises happening.

This amounts to 12% less money in my pocket in 2023 plus inflation.

Is this standard, or should I be looking for opportunities elsewhere?

I'm working on establishing our video department and I pretty much have to start from scratch as far as client/internal understanding of the video process goes (we are a fairly small agency). Any other general advice would be awesome as well.
