Hey! I am 23 and planning to move to Geneva as a Mid-Level Software Engineer.

Does anyone have any information about costs of moving into Geneva? I have heard that any house/flat to rent comes fully unfurnished.

Also, could someone please tell me what the average cost of living is in Geneva?

What would be the best place to move into to meet new people? Are there some kind of residences with communal areas?

Homegate.Ch has both long term rents (unfurnished) and short term (furnished). If i were you i would rent a room in a shared apartment with nice large living room with people your age - probably best spot to look for that are FAcebook groups.
For moving anywhere in Europe I recommend clicktrans.com where you put your request and companies bid you offers.

How much your getting ?

Be careful bc cost of living is very very high and most people I knew in Geneva (albeit all of the settled down probably 10-15 years older then you) lived on the French side of the boarder. Numbeo.com has good cost of living comparison

One last thing - I worked in Geneva when I was 27 - I had a feeling it’s an old people’s town - if I were you I would rather look for work in Zurich or even better Amsterdam ;)

It depends. Moving to Geneva is fairly cheap from Lausanne for instance but it is really expensive from Melbourne. Care to share some details, mate?

Are ppl worried about being on the bench esp when there aren’t a lot of projects in the pipeline? New hire here about to be up for staffing for the first time and sentiment at my firm seems to be worried/fearful about being unstaffed. Is it actually worrisome to be on the bench in this environment or is this just a product of highly ambitious over achievers worrying about not being constantly utilized?

Just got offered to join potential project that would relocate me to LA for 3-4 months for onsite work. I was hired by a SaaS company for 95,000 Fr as a Senior Full Stack Developer. I have 9 years of experience and I worked in multiple startups and technologies. I also have relatively better experience in NodeJS, React, SQL, Elasticsearch.

Hi everyone! I’m a master’s student in Switzerland, and I’m currently abroad interning at Deloitte AKA working 14h a day for no pay 🙃 just to get a job back in Switzerland
I currently have a couple of “almost” job offers, and I’m going back soon and meeting the employers to talk about logistics including work permit.

Are there non-Europeans here that have gone through the work permit process in Switzerland that can answer a couple of questions?
