Anyone an EA at Citadel? Do you like it?
So anyone Opting In??
Hi 👋 exec here. Hope it's ok to post an employment opportunity. Started a new role + am hiring an EA/BP in Mountain View, CA (hybrid role + flex hours). Happy to answer any questions. Thanks! 🙏

I feel like instead of looking for another role (because true fully remote is hard to come by) I would join networking orgs / events. Upskill, make connections, or pick up hobbies etc. that will allow you to connect with folks otherwise. 5 years is a long time to be remote and you may realize the grass is not greener on the other side. Signed - someone who went looking for greener pastures 🥹
Are you required to work from home or do you have an option of popping into the office every now and then?
No, we're required to work from home. My company wants to save money on real estate. I never wanted a virtual job, but here I am. I guess it could be a lot worse. I'll keep looking for hybrid. Something is bound to come up.
You’d be better off arranging one day a week, maybe a few hours, for a team catch up. You could ( if part of your usual routine) arrange a litter pick/walk etc to reconnect. I’ve been here, it’s a downward slope for some. Good luck.
See if you can work in the office one day week so you may reconnect and / or keep your connections strong with your team.
I appreciate the thoughtful replies. However, we don't have an office and my team is scattered across the globe which makes me feel further detached from my team. I would prefer a more hybrid role as this isn't cutting it for me.
Thank you all for taking the time to read and respond.
Be happy you have something because it is extremely difficult to find work now. :(
After 5.5 years remote, the isolation did get to me. It took me awhile but I found the role that I hope will take me to retirement. First thing I told the recruiter during the screen was “I want to come back into the office” she said she was so happy to hear that. After multiple interviews I nailed the job, and although I have a commute I’m so thankful. The hallway conversation and cube hangouts give me energy.
So much more you can convey in person vs. virtual, and dropping into office to talk through something saves an email.
Good luck!
I’m 95% remote going in the office once a month or traveling for conferences 3-4 times a year. I haven’t been in my role that long but I don’t necessarily feel isolated. I’m on multiple zoom calls each week and while I have dual role for VPs in different departments, I stay beyond busy so I never think about the fact I work alone. This role fits my life and honestly couldn’t imagine being in an office more. There seems to be a good number of positions now that are in office more. Wishing you well.
Good for you. I'm busy as well. But its personal connections with the team members that is lacking. Remote works for some, but obviously not for all and I'm clearly one of them.
OP - is there an opportunity to go into the office? I pick one day a week to go into the office to work and connect with people in person. It helps!
I suppose if there were, I wouldn't be looking for hybrid roles. We are full 100% virtual.
I love working remotely. I’m lucky enough that my boss isn’t demanding or needs me by their side. So I’m able to work from home comfortably.
I hate it. I feel like we're more disposable if we can work from home. Our jobs can be easily sent overseas. A number of EA's at my company who were working from home were let go. I'm not comfortable with it, but then that's just me. To each his own.
I really pray I get such offer as I'm job hunting and fully remote is best suited for me cause of other stuff I got going
Thank you.
