I am struggling to find a job in the legal industry and I was wandering if anyone could advice me.

Given my profile (non-native English, work experience in politics in my country, career switch in my mid-30s, UK LLB completed July 2025), is it realistic to break into the legal industry in the UK and what entry route would you recommend? Which types of firms are typically most open to career changers like me (size, practice areas), and which should I deprioritise?

Does anyone on here recommend making a switch from law to policy work? Is that looked down upon in the legal field or is there some rewarding features of utilizing one’s JD in the policy space? I’m very nervous because the group with whom I’m interviewing works with life science/tech clients and the attorneys have strong science/tech backgrounds; and I do not. However, I am very, very interested in transitioning to this practice. And I reaaally want this job because it’s at my dream firm. How would you recommend preparing for the lateral interview?

Hi, been stuck in the contract analysis/review cycle. I have asked a few recruiters how to make a lateral move into in-house. They told me to focus on contract management, which I have been doing for the past year. Now that I have, are there any sites besides “jobscan” that I can use to make sure my resume fits the job descriptions? Does anybody know any recruiters that could help me, as well?

Assuming that I'm okay with a salary of 70K and more, and that I really don't want to work at a law firm. Is it going to be difficult for me to return to law with two years of experience and one year working in a legal adjacent role.

I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week. I believe they’re interviewing other candidates. Does that make me second or third choice? And does the fact that I’m working with a recruiter hurt my chances of being selected due to the commission? Should I hold out for the offer or is 1+ week a sign that I won’t be selected?
