I have 9 yrs of experience — first 6 in Java dev + production support, last 3 in Data Engineering. Recently worked on modernizing legacy Perl/DataStage pipelines to Fivetran + dbt + census+ Snowflake, building ETL models and supporting pipelines in production.

Planning a switch and confused: should I refresh Java and target senior backend roles, or deepen DE fundamentals and pursue DE long term? From a 5–7 yr growth view (comp, demand, stability), which path makes more sense?

Got an offer for SE III at a large tech company. Product I'd be working on interests me and I think I could grow more than in my current role.

Currently I make 180k base and have ISO/RSUs @ startup (60k/yr worth on paper, but won't be worth anything for a few years, if at all).

The offer is:
Base: $166,500
Target Bonus: 10% ($16,650)
RSU: 120k total (30k/yr)

Thoughts on offer? Should I counter?

Additionally there's a yearly target RSU bonus about equal to the cash bonus. Thoughts? 4.5 YOE

Hi fishes, I have 2 offers-
Thermo Fisher for Data Engineer in AWS and Python and Ameriprise as Lead Developer for Informatica Powercenter. Ameriprise is offering 50k more in my monthly salary than Thermo Fisher. My preference is to join in where I can grow and get a good learning for future career growth. Also, work life balance should be good in the organization.
