Unsure about what to do.. worked as an analyst out of school for $60K 2017-2019. Left after 1yr due to a toxic work environment & to care for my grandpa who had cancer in 2019. Here’s a hypothetical:

A company has 2 candidates, aged 25-30, equal in every respect save one’s a man the other’s a woman. Maybe the woman is a slightly better candidate overall. They’d have equal comp.

Company considers the woman a riskier bet due to possibility she’ll take maternity leave — and considers the man less risky for his ineligibility to take as much leave. 🤷

After multiple rounds of interviews, had anyone ever been offered a job that was a full level lower than the position you were interviewed for? What did you do?

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated.
