What does a Technical UXR interview look like? I have my first one tomorrow! I am mostly preparing by practicing research planning and reviewing different methods, but if anyone has recommendations on how to better prepare, I would appreciate it!

I joined a project that had already started and the team already settled on creating a user journey map, even though none of them are designers or in ux. I also have no experience in this field as I'm a data engineer. The user journey map was for mapping out the process for tenants finding housing assistance, so not a technical product. Is it normal for a Product Owner to lay out specs for how a feature should work?

I thought that was my job as the ux designer to figure out the best way to solve a need. But I’m getting handed projects where the PO, and sometimes the senior designer has laid out exactly what should happen (components used, flow, etc) to design a feature. It’s really frustrating because I don’t know if I’m supposed to be speaking up on what I think or just do the UI work I’m asked to.

Looking for some advice on a career change. I work in a technical role and have well-developed soft skills. I want to transition to UX (w/ focus on accessibility). There are a lot of UX educational programs out there, some very new, e.g. Dribbble, and costs are all over the place - General Assembly is $15k (and full-time), CareerFoundry almost $8k, and then many others at a fraction of the price. Reviews also vary wildly. Are these more expensive programs worth the huge increase in cost?

Any advice on getting started in UX?

I am switching careers and trying to get into the field of UX design. I made it to round two of the interview process for a UX Designer position, an interview with the hiring manager for this role. Anyone work at or know of firms that have data engineering roles? I discovered the world of design services and they seem to do the general type of work that I think is practical and useful. I'm love to find a firm that works with the public sector and social impact organizations, but can't find any that have data-related roles

After a long interview process, I had to decline an offer from Amazon. I was really excited, but they wanted to start me as an L4. I already have offers on the table $15,000 more then the possible top compensation an L4 can get.

Makes me sad. Has anyone else been real excited about a possible job and have been low balled?

I’m a product designer with about 5+ YOE I’m exploring courses/programs that one could take up as a mid career professional. I have a keen interest in Service Design, Behavioural Sciences, Design Research but not very sure about the opportunities. At the same time I’m open to exploring Product Mgmnt and Data science as along with design. Any recommendations?
