Advice needed on handing in notice, I recently signed an offer letter and understand the screening process takes 4-6 weeks. I have a month's notice period and have agreed a preliminary start date in Feb.

I was planning on not handing my notice in until the checks had been completed so its all secured (not that I think I will fail any checks), but apparently I need a reference from my current employer not previous ones. Can't really do this without handing in notice can I?

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

I finally have an extra room to set up a home office. I’m looking at motorized standing desk, but there are so many options out there that it is overwhelming. What’s your recommendation for an L-shaped desk?

Out of curiosity and to test the market, I interviewed at a FAANG. Did not get the job, but found out TC was 350k, significantly higher than my TC 230k. Those that make $150K+, how did you do it? I’m 27, I have an MBA in marketing and 5 years of experience with bidding, but am only making $75K. I want to break the six figure mark, but I don’t see many jobs in my area that pay that much. What’s a good industry to get into and how? I’d like to make enough to start investing in real estate to start generating passive income but can’t do that with my current salary.
