Anyone here downshift in life post service?

Feel like I've been going full bore for the past decade and literally have no problem continuing the trend. Like I could just keep marking milestones and grinding or whatever until I die.

Wondering when if anyone else felt similar and decided to pull back and do something more relaxing. What was the catalyst, what are you doing, and are you enjoying it?

I'd considered taking up a 9-5 somewhere but not sure if thatd wear off fast.

I got an offer for a job where I’d be switching industries / taking a pay cut for a different career path that I think would provide me more fulfillment. My plan is to provide 2 weeks notice tomorrow, but I’m having anxiety about it since my projects are running full speed ahead, and I may make things quite difficult on the team. I know this may be common in consulting, but just curious if anyone has gone through similar and how you’ve approached the convos?

Law schools in Toronto - I am currently working as a Senior Auditor at EY & finished my CPA modules in less than 12 months & successfully passed CFE, September 2021 (Fasttrack) while working full time. I am really interested in getting into a top law school here in Toronto but unfortunately I had a low CGPA (3.15) from undergrad due to some unfortunate incident, mostly impacted my grades. I strongly feel i can score 170+ on LSAT; question DO I EVEN STAND A CHANCE TO GET INTO ANY LAW SCHOOL

I don’t work in big law, but some of my classmates,who are going into big law, are bragging about the low number of billable hours they are required to hit. I’m hearing 1,600-1,800 billable hours. Is this actually true? Are some firms paying Cravath and only requiring 1,600 for the year? I know it depends on the firm, but can anyone actually confirm this is their experience? If so, then I’m a little jealous 🙃

A bit perplexed on how to feel after event that took place last night. We’re out to dinner for my boyfriend‘s dad‘s birthday and just after we order dinner, his parents hand each of the siblings an envelope. After a few minutes it became clear each envelope had 30k, plus several hundred in random gift cards. I grew up pretty well off but this is not something my parents would ever do.
