Why are you not getting promoted? As for a raise, you should hear about that within the next week or two.

Not sure why, thinking it may have to do with the slow down of business within the firm. I’m hoping to be getting something in the short term but I may have to jump around for long-term strategy. Doing PMO work for L&D is predictable but I’m running out of things to learn within this role. I’m ready for the next level of responsibility (and pay). I feel like it’s tough because they already told us on our last AHC that comp this year wouldn’t be “stellar”

Also I’ve been in my role coming up on 3 years and I’m trying to get promoted. They keep saying I will.
What level are you? Have you spoken to your SM or PPMD directly about this?

There is the CAP program they just
Launched, maybe I’ll dive into that.
What have you been getting in your snapshots?

Yes. But in EA they do everything they can to push your ratings down so they don’t have ti justify a raise or promotion. It’s really competitive after the specialist level.
So EA promotions are different than client side. You have to apply for jobs at the next level in the firm, it is pretty atypical to be promoted in your current role. Can it happen? Sure, but given the current environment there has to be money and a good case (for instance an opening on your team). If you haven’t been networking and putting out feelers for Manager roles I’d do that now so people know you’re looking when they have an opening.

I know. This isn’t too different from industry jobs I’ve had in the past. Only consulting seems to work this way where you get promoted more or less on tenure (at least that seems to be the reality). I have been networking and I’m even thinking about doing the CAP in August to get more exposure to other areas within EA. It’s just politics that seems to preclude my advancement. There’s always someone they seem to like more. It’s just super competitive to get promoted. The key I think is just to look elsewhere, you get passed over once maybe twice, the writing is pretty much on the wall you should be seeking opportunities outside of your service line.
